Video blog in Lisbon, Portugal, in “Olivais”, friend feeding street cats with fishing rod, just pure

Hey all,

I was visiting my best male friend in Portugal, “Lois”, if you meet him on the street he may look like a “beggar”, which he isn’t, just has an incredible level of independence, very intelligent, well traveled around Europe, was a circus member for many years; has stories and experiences that are priceless. he worked mainly with elephants, loved their intelligence.

Me as an African boy, I love elephants, have quite a lot of respect for them, in the bush with a good jeep I wont be able to make more than 40Km/h, an elephant and a rhino do 40Kms/h, so better always not to upset them…

Lois has serious health issues, his lungs only work to 15% capacity, needs multiple machines to feed him air 24 hours a day, he cant breath alone without them… but, he is the one the shops call to help go deposit money from the shops everyday at the bank, as well as helping people carry things, when he shouldn’t be carrying anything for anyone.

Where he lives, “Olivais”, he is well respected and liked, helps and has helped countless people over decades… myself when I didn’t have food to eat, Lois made sure I always had something to eat for dinner, everyday, for months…everyday… almost surreal…

I am not from here, didn’t have anyone to help with anything, I will never forget his companionship and human-ship, learned a lot of humility and what’s important in this new world from him.

COVID-19 brought to humanity a terrible disaster that will take decades to resolve to some level, for us in the poor countries of Europe, we will be forgotten, I for one haven’t been able to get official help about anything with anyone. And I speak the language to some level.

Lois was seeing the street cats that were hungry, some people may also have “disposed” of their “loved” animals, Lois cant go to the street, him being alive is a miracle on its own, so he created a system with his fishing rod, organised a friend to go to the supermarket and buy 2 large cat bags (10kgs each) and drops the cat food when he sees the little things walking around and may be hungry. I loved going there and visiting Lois, I love people like him, 100% honest, sharp minds, real friends, and every visit we both learn something from each other. Here in Portugal has been the really poor people, the ones that earn 600€ or less (most earn around 600€) that every couple of days call me and want to help, almost not believable, especially knowing they have nothing. The really poor here in Portugal are simply beautiful…

Have a great Sunday all…
